1-InfraSpace
At number one, we have InfraSpace—one of the best simulations based on a futuristic planet outside of earth. You will solve many problems in this game, such as transport, population, supply chain and power. Worth checking if you are into simulation games.
2- Infra
This game is set from the first-person perspective of an engineer who investigates different structures using a camera and other tools. If you are looking for some mysteries to solve but also explore the world around you, then infra might be the one.
3- Poly Bridge 1&2
One of the best games for bridge building, which can teach you some design concepts for bridges. It has different materials to utilise, and you can also compare your design to others and see how efficient it is. So far, there have been two games published. I recommend starting with the first one as it is too much fun.
4- Minecraft
One of the best games of all time for engineers. You can build your world and explore others’ worlds. You can do plenty of things, and you will always find yourself engineering and planning things. A perfect game to get your brain to think hard and have plenty of fun.
5- Portal 1&2
If you are looking for a game with endless puzzles and hours of fun gameplay, then Portal is for you. The fun thing is that you can do multiplayer to work on different puzzles. The unique thing about this game is the ability to the Portal through anything, which is why it has fascinated the gaming community for years.
6- Cities Skylines
Another simulation where you get to plan cities, power, food and water. The mechanics of the game is quite mature and realistic. You will spend hours planning roads, building facilities, and growing your small village into a giant city.
7- Mini Motorways & Mini Metro
Two separate simulations by Dinosaur Polo Club, games that basically let you design roads or train lines. Excellent game for someone who wants to get into road and transport planning. It is worth checking as they are quite realistic from the design standpoint.
8- Freeways
A perfect game for problem-solving and planning. Very simple but quite complicated when you simulate complex situations. You will get to think like a road planner and understand how complicated road planning can be.
9- Train Valley
Our last game is Train Valley which is another simulation, but for trains, you get to plan the city transport and solve different problems as your city keeps getting bigger, which is a great way to think like an engineer but also have fun.
